What first drew you to the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology?
What drew me to the field of OBGYN is that I really enjoyed working in women’s health and taking care of women throughout their lifecycle, especially their reproductive years. It’s been particularly rewarding caring for generations of women within one family.

What do you enjoy most about being part of The Woman’s Group?
What I enjoy most about being part of the Woman’s Group is seeing how the idea I had over 25 years ago has developed into a thriving high quality practice that reflects the community we live in. I’m proud that we deliver service with a group of dedicated physicians, nurse practitioners and midwives that function as a family of caregivers that provide state of the art care proven to best treat our patients.

What is an important value that you hold close to your heart as a physician in your day-to-day life?
An important value that I hold as a physician at the Woman’s Group is integrity. From the beginning, integrity was a guiding principle when I started the Woman’s Group. Without it, nothing could have come to fruition because your good word is essential in starting big endeavors. It was important to establish that in all of my relationships with bankers, vendors, fellow professionals and especially my patients. To me integrity is the cornerstone for everything that you do- academically, in business, in personal and especially in relationships with patients. It is essential to a good therapeutic relationship between a doctor and her patient because it leads to mutual trust.

What is one of the most fulfilling parts of your role in the women’s healthcare field?
The most fulfilling part of my role in the healthcare field to me is that you are present with a patient in most every major milestone of her life. You may be there at her birth. You see her through puberty, counsel her through her reproductive years and at times see her before marriage. You may take care of her during pregnancy, advise her through menopause and if you’re fortunate see her through the end of life or through your retirement. All the while, you are building a relationship that lasts a lifetime and perhaps through generations.

What’s your favorite way to de-stress?
My favorite way to destress is to travel and to spend time with family and especially my granddaughter Madelyn Kate.

What’s your favorite TV show or movie?
My favorite current HBO series is The Gilded Age. I love the costuming and the story of the families that controlled and built New York in the early days. There many movies that I like but among my favorites are Steel Magnolias because it was one of the first movies I recall that depicted a group of strong diverse women that that formed a network of support for one another during difficult times in their lives.

What’s your favorite part about living in Tampa?
My favorite thing about Tampa is our community vitality. We are so vibrant and diverse, and yet always connected. I am proud to have built my life here, providing healthcare to this great community.
