Teaming Up Against Breast Cancer

Every October, millions across the globe unite to raise awareness for, honor the survivors of, and remember the loss of those impacted by breast cancer. This year’s theme, “Teaming Up Against Breast Cancer,” is more than a tagline—it’s a call to action. When women, families, providers, and communities unite, we create a powerful force against this disease.

At The Woman’s Group, it’s an additional chance for us to highlight the importance of early detection and remind women everywhere that teaming-up can save lives.

Does early detection matter?
Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, yet not all women make it a priority. Research shows that annual screening mammography starting at age 40 reduces the mortality of breast cancer by 30% (from the Society of Breast Imaging). That’s not just a number— many real lives are saved by screening while keeping families whole. Screening mammography is the single most effective tool we have in detecting breast cancer early, when it is most treatable.

“As a physician, I encourage every woman to prioritize her annual mammogram. When we detect breast cancer early, we dramatically increase the chances of survival and successful treatment.”
– Pamela Twitty, MD

Teaming Up Against Breast Cancer Actions:

Schedule your mammogram: If you’re 40 or older, or at higher risk, don’t delay.

Encourage loved ones: Remind the women in your life to prioritize their health!

Educate yourself: Understand your personal risk factors and talk to your doctor about your screening plan.

Support awareness efforts: Share information, wear pink or get involved in community events this month.

Whether it’s scheduling your annual mammogram, sharing resources with friends, or supporting a loved one through treatment – every act of teamwork makes a difference.

This October, we encourage you to put your health first—and to remind your loved ones and friends to do the same. Do not delay or skip your annual screening.

Make your appointment and share your plans with family and friends.
